One question we're occasionally asked is whether the furniture in our Outlet section is there because customers didn't want it.
More often than not, the answer has nothing to do with popularity and everything to do with making room for what's arriving next.
As a small, independent furniture store, we import the majority of our furniture ourselves. Every shipment is carefully planned months in advance, and when a container is on its way to Christchurch, we know we need to make room for it.
Unlike larger retail chains, we don't have multiple stores to spread stock across. Everything arrives here, so before new furniture reaches our showroom, we often need to create the space for it.
That's where our Outlet comes in.
Rather than waiting until the showroom feels overcrowded, we'll reduce selected pieces to help them find a new home before the next shipment arrives. It keeps our showroom fresh, gives us room to properly display new arrivals, and gives our customers the opportunity to purchase quality furniture at a reduced price.
It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the furniture. In fact, many of the pieces in our Outlet have been some of our most popular. Sometimes we're making way for a new collection, sometimes a replacement shipment is on its way, and other times we simply need the floor space. It's all part of keeping the showroom moving and making room for what's next.
Because we buy in smaller quantities, our showroom is constantly evolving. We'd rather offer a changing collection than have the same pieces sitting on the floor for months. That means our Outlet changes regularly too, so it's always worth having a look to see what's been added.
For us, the Outlet isn't a place for unwanted furniture. It's simply part of how we make room for what's next.
